Tax Prep OptionS for 2024

MAA is offering free tax preparation services this year with the help of the accounting firm Amana Financial Services!

The opportunity to get your individual state and federal income tax returns completed for free will be available to the first 550 families that sign up to receive this service. These tax preparers will have special training to make sure MAA families get the correct refund. We have found that not all tax preparers are familiar with how MAA works, leading some families to get incorrect refunds, so we strongly encourage you consider signing up for this opportunity. We’re confident that by providing this service, more families like you will have access to high-quality tax preparation services.

  • Minnesotans are lucky to have a robust network of preparers, including several options for free tax prep throughout the state.

However, as we continue to recover from the pandemic, appointments for tax preparation services can be challenging to find. It can be even more difficult to find preparers in certain areas of our state, services that are available in multiple languages, and during times that are convenient.

MAA recognizes this challenge, and hopes to add capacity to the already stretched network of tax preparation available.

Through this partnership with Amana Financial, MAA families will be able to work with a preparer familiar with working with low-income families and the MN K-12 Education Tax Credit.

Additionally, Amana Financial is excited to work with families to help them maximize their refund by determining their eligibility for other tax credits they may be eligible for.

Amana is also able to offer assistance to families who speak Somali or Urdu, as well as English. MAA may also be able to assist families who speak other languages by request. Please contact us if you’d like to request assistance in other languages.

  • Great question. When setting up your portal, you will answer some questions for Amana Financial that will help guide you through exactly which documents you’ll need. To get started organizing common documents you will need to have, use our organizer found HERE
